Decoding with prefixes and suffixes. Discussion of immigration and reconciliation
Hello ELC,
Today we looked at word roots, prefixes and suffixes as a way to help us decode unfamiliar words. Here are a pair of links that may be helpful as you review and add to your knowledge in this area:

Today we looked at word roots, prefixes and suffixes as a way to help us decode unfamiliar words. Here are a pair of links that may be helpful as you review and add to your knowledge in this area:

- We looked at the vocabulary and some ideas about Immigration/emmigration and the idea of reconciliation.
- We discussed a little about Canada’s immigration history and about the First Nations peoples at first contact and later.
- We discussed the fact that we live work and play on the traditional territories of the Musqueam, Tsleil Waututh and the Squamish (Coast Salish) peoples.
- We talked a little bit about the need for ‘Truth and Reconciliation’ in Canada and what that might mean. You had terrific questions and comments! We will continue these activities in the future.
Today you received your long term project for term 1. This is the Independant Novel Study sheet. No due dates have been given yet. Stay tuned!
