Welcome to English Learning Centre (ELC)

Welcome to ELC!

Congratulations, you have gained sufficient skills in English to have graduated from ELL. This is an indicator of a lot of hard work. Well done.

Just as we do not teach a person to swim and then leave them alone in deep water, similarly, we will not abandon you as you venture into 'deeper waters' in your language study. ELC has been developed to provide you with a year of continued support so that you may maximize your learning and results in all of your classes.

In this class, we will review matters of formatting your writing. We will review grammar and punctuation where needed. We will practice writing, reading and speaking English.

This class is provided partially to act almost like a tutorial, to help you with your homework in other classes. I will act as mentor; please bring your questions, assignments, drafts and concerns across the curriculum and we will work together to improve your results.

Almost every class, you will be guaranteed 30 mins. to work on homework or to study for any of your language based classes (English, Socials, Science, Drama) . This time may be expanded when major assessments are happening in other classes and it may be missed on days we are having assessments of our own.

This is your blog where you will find daily updates/due dates/ and, from time to time, class notes. Please check it daily.

Your course outline is here as well. Please Read it, as it outlines the expectations for this class.

Finally, I have provided you with self-study enrichment links for you to use to help support your language learning.

I am very much looking forward to working with you!
