News show help and UPDATED DUE DATES!

Hello ELC,

Upon reflection, I can see that a little additional time is needed to properly complete our News Team projects. As such, modified due dates are listed below:

  • May 24/25th Draft script of the entire show (see handout)
  • June 4/5 Final script at the start of the block
  •  June 4/5 Final  news show (filmed or performed) at the start of the block

Here are the example clips we viewed today:
Note the look and sound of them
As well, note transitions.
Remember to sign off or conclude your news show.

Econ. news  Note the look and sound but avoid the bias they have. Remember to conclude.

Student example Note that the images need to be cropped and should not be switched out so fast. Also, they fail to use transitions.

Here is the link we looked at that shows a few news show formats as well as advice about how to write your stories.

I look forward to viewing your news shows!
Happy reporting.

Individual articles now due/team efforts begin

Hello ELC,

Just a reminder that your individual typed/formatted Inverted pyramid news stories are now due
Ensure that you have met all the criteria regarding order, content, and formatting. See last post for formatting help.

Now, the team efforts begin!

Today you are receiving your News Show rubric/script suggestions

Teams of no more than 4 people (you have already made teams) will produce a news show based on the news articles you have already created/submitted.

Create a shared Google doc. so that you may all remain up to date and involved in the creative process.

The due dates are as follows:

  • May 24/25th Draft script of the entire show (see handout)
  • May 28/29 Final script at the start of the block
  • May 28/29 Final  news show (filmed or performed) at the start of the block
Today we watched this News story report example.
                                     Various news openings examples
Notice:

  •  The way it looks
  • What we see and hear
  • Who is speaking and what kinds of things they say
  • When is the video with an overdub?
  • How do they transition from one idea to the next?
We will explore this further.

Advice and reminders re: writing your own news reports DUE: MAY 14/15

Hello All,

NOTE: formatting help

We have begun the process of finding news to create our own news articles. After you have done so, these news items/articles will form the content for your news show!

You have created teams of 2-4 members.
You have decided which genre of report each will do. (News, opinion, arts, sports, fashion etc)
You will now begin to go out and find original news happening and report on it. (Take pics/video/do interviews/ answer W5H)

Rubric and due dates to come.

Here is the link to the helpful video we reviewed today. Creating a News Report
Below is a review of the inverted pyramid format which the above, and all news reporting must follow.

Have fun reporters!
