• Homework check on your notes based on the above link
• Write out a second draft : homework check in class at the end of Jan. 24/25.
• Next class, we will do a peer assessment/edit see the following links for our criteria:

• Summary assessment #1
• Summary assessment #2
• Final edited/typed drafts of your summary is due January 30/31th. Quiz weight.
• Several among us failed the Spelling Demons test. I will offer a re-test Jan. 25/26. This is optional.

Spelling Test/Summary assignment review/Notes link assignment

Hello ELC,

This is a reminder that today is day 2's Spelling Demons test.

• We will study for 10 minutes and then take it. I'll have them marked to return for next block.
• I am returning your first Summary assignments. Please hold onto these articles/assignments as we will be continuing to work with them. 

Please remember the following when you are doing a summary:

• It is written entirely in your own words. Do not quote/plagiarize
• You must use full sentences. This includes both a subject and a verb at a minimum.
• Do not write a list, rather connect full sentences with transitions.
• Edit out details; you are to highlight the main useful ideas
• Remember your summary must be understandable/useful for someone who has not read your article.
• Capitalize titles
• Avoid sharing your own ideas/feelings/opinions.
• Talk about the facts rather than the author.
• Proof read for proper word forms and verb tenses/agreement.

• I will do a homework check for marks on your notes next block
• We will be writing a second draft of the summary of your first article next block.
• Bring the article/summary/your notes and a computer if you like

Happy New Year! Resolutions/summary/homework

Welcome back all!

Today we reviewed the date of the' Spelling Demons' test (Jan. 15/16)

We are looking at how to optimize our use of the dictionary:Resolution

We viewed/discussed and worked with the idea of resolutions :List 5 types/domains
Tips for writing a summary

For next class, print the resolution article of your choice and bring it to class. Ensure that there is enough text so that you have room to summarize/reduce.

The handout is not to be done as homework.
