Prep. Character Interview and 'Short Story Elements' for next class

Hello ELC, 
  • Irregular verb test page # 3: Nov. 2/3 HAS BEEN POSTPONED. NEW DATE TBA

All blocks have been assigned:

  1.  'Short Story Elements sheet' for next class. (Remember there is terminology help at the bottom of the self study links) You do not need to fill i the last two blanks.
  2. By tomorrow all blocks will have been assigned preparations for in class interview and introductions of your protagonists:


·     Take on the persona (you BE them) of your protagonist prepare for an interviews of each character using the questions below .

·     How do you think your character would respond to these questions?
·      Base your answers on what you understand about the character from the story so far.

Character Interviews:

·     What is your name? Where/when do you live?
·     What do you love/hate the most and why?
·     What do you see as your goal in life?
·     What is your biggest ‘stumbling block’ /impediment?
·     What is your greatest strength? What is your greatest weakness?
·     Is there anything you wish people could understand about you?
Come ready to respond to these in character. 
You will be expected to introduce the person you interview to the class.


Verb team A, please do the following asap:

Write a paragraph response to the following:

Tell about something you saw on your last trip and then tell about what you plan to do the next time you take a trip. This should be at least a half page typed or full- page hand-written.

Take care to use correct verb tenses.
 When you are shifting verb tense, use a transitional phrase/word to indicate that you are changing verb tense (time).

Important Dates (re-testA)

Hello All,

For your planning, I am placing the following Due Dates for assignments below:
  • Journals due Nov.16/17 (ten entries)
  • Independent Novel Studies (both parts) due:Nov.14/15
  • Irregular verb test (page two) test #2:Oct.18/19
  • Irregular verb test page # 3: Nov. 2/3
  • 'Show off 'project will be assigned Nov. 8:9 due Dec. 4-8 (sign up for presentation date)
We will study the irregular verbs on page #1 Thursday and Friday this week and will do a re-test on Monday and Tuesday next week. RE-TEST OCTOBER 16/17.

Beyond these items, we will do small in-class activities leading up to these assessment items.

  1. From which perspective/s is/are your story told? How do you know?
  2. Why has the author chosen that perspective? What does it allow/not allow the reader to know/feel?
